Desert Sun Counselling Society has launched a social enterprise focused on reducing food waste while improving food security in the local community. By rescuing surplus and "imperfect" produce from local farms, we are preserving this food using freezing, dehydrating, and freeze-drying methods.
This initiative is designed to address three major goals: reduce farm-level food waste, improve access to nutritious local food, and create sustainable employment through a value-added food preservation model.
We are looking for donors to supply us with fruits and vegetables that would normally go to waste. Desert Sun can offer farmers a charitable receipt for fair market value.
